ObjectivesBy the end of the course the participants shall:
ParticipantsFor participants, who hold a recognised Dynamic Positioning Operator (DPO) certificate issued by The Nautical Institute (NI), but do not have the required 150 days DP Sea time to revalidate through the conventional route:
ContentThe course is conducted as classroom training, combining theoretical presentation and practical work/discussion with exercises in simulator and guidance. For practical capabilities and skills, exercises are performed in fully equipped DP simulators. This course will fulfill the revalidation learning objectives as specified by The NI. Language, Literacy and Numeracy RequirementsTo undertake this assessment, the participant requires the ability to read and interpret typical product specifications, job sheets, procedures, and safety information as provided to operators. Writing is required to the level of completing workplace forms, log and reports. Assessment & Competency AchievementThe assessment is conducted in English. 100% attendance and participation in the course is required. The NI theory assessment must be passed with 70% or higher. The practical training exercises are carried out on a Kongsberg Marine K-Pos DP training simulator and a Rolls Royce ICON2 simulator. There will be a maximum of 2 trainees on each desk to give maximum hands on training. Participants will be awarded a Certificate on successful completion. Course Duration5 days.
